Literature

My favorite piece of literature that we read, has to be the Great Gatsby. I do not enjoy reading much, and not many books get my attention, but this specific book was amazing. I enjoyed reading because it had to do with the 1920's which is one of my favorite decades and was entertaining. My least favorite piece of literature would have to be "The Raven" it was too dark for me, and not interesting at all. The story was actually hard to understand, and the story line itself was not pleasant nor happy. I enjoy reading happy upbeat short stories!

English Class

My first impression of the class was that it was going to be simple, but instead it turned out to be difficult. English was always my strongest subject because I understood the stories and was able to remember details. AP English was a new challenge for me, considering it was my first AP class and I had to get use to the way Mrs Kirkmans tests were.
My favorite part of the class would be the quiz's because they were always easy, but then the test came which made it hard. I also enjoyed the blog posts because it had to make you think and answer the question to the best of your ability. (it was an easy grade too). AP English was a tough start but I hope to do well on the actual test.

Pope Molestation

Trusted Sistine Chapel Janitor Convicted Of Sexually Abusing Last 4 Popes was written on April 16 2012. This article indicated that a janitor of the Sistine Chapel had been working there from 1965-2011. He had gained the trust of high ranked authority figures and then secretly had molested innocent popes. In the last 6 decades he had embarrassed and humiliated 4 Popes. An anonymous tip was given about the janitor Falduto doing those crimes. If the tip was not given he would have continued committing these horrifying acts. He had taken pictures of each pope in different positions, one of them was a picture of the Pope crying. Psychologists say that the Popes probably have been traumatized and were afraid to talk about what had happened because they were worried no one would believe them.

Coyote Vs Acme

The story Coyote Vs Acme is a satirical piece of literature that sarcastically shows how the law works today. Coyote had sued Acme company because their products had caused him many injuries. The reason why this story was in fact satirical was because the Coyote is a character known for being stupid for not reading the directions. He did not ever read the instructions for the products that he had bought, therefore the injuries were his fault. In the end of the story Acme company was forced to make their products better for no reason, because their products never had a problem at all. This shows the unreasonable and illogical reasons how people sue others for money when it is not even their fault. This story is intended to the audience that sue for stupid reasons, to understand their unreasonable acts.

Language!

Language is the method of human communication that can be used in writing or speaking. It is the key of understanding the world and becoming successful. One understands another person through words and actions. Language is words used by people in the same community or nation. One may have an accent which indicates how much of a language they really know and can comprehend. I strongly agree that a person's language is one key factor to identifying them as who they are. A language can say an abundant amount about a person. A tone of the language is also a key factor, considering the way they say their words explains the kind of person they are. For example, if one is angry and expresses that in their language it shows that one is an angry individual. When one uses his/her knowledge with words it shows how intellectual they are and therefore it is another example of ones personality. Words are mere letters put together that make different sounds, and each word has a different meaning that is expressed differently to each individual and gives us a hint of who they really are.

SOAPST

The Great Gatsby is a book written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in the 1920's. The narrator in the book was a young adult named Tom who had separated from his parents and decided to live alone. The book takes place in both New York City and Long Islands North Shore. The purpose of this book was to explain and describe the life of the upper class New York citizens during the Prohibition act. During this time period the rich people of New York would party and talk about illegal alcohol.

Alcohol

The Prohibition Act of 1920 was the act of prohibiting the production sale and manufacture of alcoholic beverages. It first came into effect on January 17, 1920 when the approval of 36 states was granted. The reason for this was because alcohol caused an abundant amount of issues. Men would abuse women and children, when drunk and even act up at work. The ironic part of this act was that it was meant to stop destruction, but instead it made the world more corrupt. Since alcohol was at high demand, the people of the United States, would do almost anything to get it, even kill and commit other illegal acts. Alcohol being banned was also an easy way for immigrants to make money. The alcohol moonshine was distributed to the people, which is a form of alcohol that was home made. Moonshine was dangerous and killed many people, reason being because most of the time it was made in their bath tubs and was unsanitary. Seeing that people were still committing crimes the United States tried to control it from the inside, but it was clearly impossible since their was too much distribution to handle. With that said the Prohibition act of 1920 was repealed.
