The Great Gatsby is a book written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in the 1920's. The narrator in the book was a young adult named Tom who had separated from his parents and decided to live alone. The book takes place in both New York City and Long Islands North Shore. The purpose of this book was to explain and describe the life of the upper class New York citizens during the Prohibition act. During this time period the rich people of New York would party and talk about illegal alcohol.
